Manchester United are back in the transfer market, as they have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Monaco star Thomas Lemar, reports Le 10 Sports.

The Monaco starlet has been a long-term target of boss Arsene Wenger, who is keen on bringing in a winger to the Emirates this summer. The negotiations were believed to be almost complete, and Lemar looked all set to become a Gunner.

However, latest reports suggest that talks have broken down, as the player himself grew frustrated due to lack of significant progress in the negotiations, all the while having set his mind on signing for Arsenal this summer.

Kylian Mbappe was not the only youngster who managed to catch the eyes of everyone, as Lemar too, secured quite an impressive tally last season, scoring 14 goals and laying an incredible 17 assists across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho, who has been in search of a winger, has taken this opportunity to capitalise on the North Londoners’ failure. United are fully prepared to hijack the deal in order to capture the midfielder’s signature, despite the Portuguese recently admitting that a fourth signing is unlikely.

However, this deal could go either way, as the Gunners have not given up on the talented youngster just yet, whereas the Red Devils too, are very much interested in securing his services.

It is no doubt that the Frenchman, alongside new arrival Romelu Lukaku, would create a devastating attacking combination. However, the same thing could be said for Alexandre Lacazette, who could thrive with Lemar around him.

With just nine days left until the transfer window closes, the Premier League giants could be seen splashing the cash for the France international, who is certainly someone worth watching out for this season.
