Zlatan Ibrahimovic had to take a significant pay cut to complete his return to Manchester United

Ibrahimovic was the highest paid player in the Premier League last season, however, the player has now agreed to take a hefty cut to his pay to sign for United. The 35-year-old earned £367,000-a-week last season, but his salary will now be halved for the current year.

Jose Mourinho had earlier decided to release his favorite striker at the end of last season because of the serious injury to Ibrahimovic’s knee. However, the player has proved great fitness to return from injury much ahead of schedule, and entice his former Inter Milan coach to re-sign him at Old Trafford.

According to SunSport, Zlatan has agreed to a new contract that will earn him £180k-a-week. Yet, the player has various bonus clauses in his contract that can earn him even greater sums of money. Understandably, Manchester United won’t hesitate to pay their prized attacker, who netted 28 goals for them last season.

Meanwhile, Zlatan will wear jersey no.10 for the current campaign, after Lukaku took over his no.9 Jersey. The Swedish international will also have to accept that he will be under the Belgian striker in the pecking order for Mourinho this season.
