VIDEO: Chelsea Brutally Trolled By Sky Sports For Their Frustrating Transfer Window
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte must have mixed feelings about the way things went down in his second summer transfer window. While on one hand, the Italian has made some solid signings in the summer, Chelsea did miss out on several potential transfer targets in the grand scheme of things.
The Blues spent a total of around £180m on six different players, with Alvaro Morata’s £54m move from Real Madrid being the most expensive of them.
Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and defender Antonio Rudiger arrived at the Stamford Bridge for £36m and £32m respectively, before Chelsea spent a combined £60m on Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta. Goalkeeper Willy Caballero arrived for free from Manchester City.
These six players can be termed as solid signings, but Conte will definitely hold a few regrets about some of his transfer business, as the Blues came close to signing six other talented players in Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Sandro, Virgil van Dijk, and Fernando Llorente, but missed out on all of them for one reason or the other.
Ross Barkley looked set to arrive at the Stamford Bridge before he had a sudden change of heart and decided to stay put at Everton at the last minute.
Liverpool hijacked the move of Oxlade-Chamberlain from under Chelsea’s nose, and signed him in what was one of the most sensational moves of the transfer window. Lukaku chose to reunite with former manager Jose Mourinho, while both Alex Sandro and van Dijk decided stayed put at their clubs.
Chelsea surely had to go through a lot of misfortune in the transfer window, and Sky Sports was quick to make a note of that. In fact, recent broadcast on Sky Sports is making rounds of the internet, where the journalist can be seen mocking every failed Chelsea transfer. Check the video out below:
