Real Madrid sensation Marco Asensio, who has set the football world on fire with great performances in the recent months, is all set to miss his team’s opening UCL fixture.

Los Blancos kick-off their Champions League campaign tonight, as they host Cyprus-based club APOEL at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid will be buzzing to get their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo back in the team for this fixture. The Portuguese is notably serving a 5-match ban in the La Liga at present, where he is yet to play a single match so far this season.

While Real Madrid must be elated to have Ronaldo back in the team, they are set to miss Marco Asensio because of an embarrassing injury. As per various reports, the young superstar will have to sit out the Champions League opener for his team because of an infected pimple on his leg.

Reports state that the player infected the pimple while shaving his legs, which is why he is unable to wear socks over the affected area. Crazy as it sounds, this news has even been confirmed by the local Spanish press. There aren’t many injuries to players which might make fans laugh at them, but Asensio has certainly got one.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old continues to earn plaudits, as he grows in the game of football. The Spaniard recently revealed high praise that he got from his boss Zinedine Zidane, by telling COPE: “Zidane told me that since Messi, he had never seen a left foot like mine. I was a little impressed, because Messi is a piece of a footballer.”
