Tipped to be a superstar in the years to come, Angel Gomes is certainly a Red Devil most cannot wait to see play at his best. However, the player has been hesitating to pen a new deal at Old Trafford, and this has put all major European clubs on high alert. The club that currently stands out with the brightest chance of being the lad’s next destination is Barcelona.

The 17-year-old has already made a senior appearance last season, after coming on for Wayne Rooney during the season end. The youngster is said to be one of the finest players to emerge out of United’s academy – a place he’s been at since the age of six.

Having bagged 12 goals during the 19 starts for the under 19s, he is also the youngest-ever recipient of the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award.

While Barca do come across as a team capable of attracting the teenager’s full attention, Manchester United will be determined not to let their future superstar go.

After sending Paul Pogba away too early, and having splashed humongous amounts of cash to get him back, this will be a mistake the club will be sure not to repeat.

According to The Sun, the midfielder was supposed to sign a contract in the weeks gone by, but him stalling a deal has raised eyebrows and questions among all involved.

Gomes is certainly a man for the future, and academy chief Nicky Butt has reinforced just that, by stating: “We’ve got some unbelievable players. Angel Gomes is a young talented player we’ve massive hopes for.”
