Marouane Fellaini has become a very useful squad player at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager, who has shown tremendous faith in the midfielder since taking over at Old Trafford, wants the Belgian to sign a new deal with Manchester United to extend his stay.

Given how Mourinho seems to be getting it all right this season from his squad selections to results, the decision to offer Fellaini a new deal will surely be welcomed by the Manchester United fan base.

Having arrived from Everton in 2013, Fellaini has had a love-hate relationship with the United fans, with sections having quite opposite opinions of him. However, the midfielder has gathered new-found admiration at the club over the last year because of the way Mourinho values him.

Fellaini’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he will be free to sign free to sign a pre-contract with another club from January, which is why Mourinho is keen to offer an extension to the player as soon as possible.

According to ESPN, a source has suggested that Fellaini is happy at Manchester United, and might opt to stay.

However, there could be mega money offers for the player from China and Turkey, which might complicate the equation. Notably, there were transfer approaches from Turkey for Fellaini this year as well, but the player chose to stay.

The Belgian international has become the ultimate utility player for Jose Mourinho, who often uses the midfielder as a substitution to impact the game with his physicality.
