Gary Neville Names The Five Players He Wants Manchester United To Sign
Manchester United have been nothing but phenomenal in recent weeks, as they currently sit second, behind their noisy neighbours Manchester City, who are only ahead on goal difference, in the Premier League table.
The post-Ferguson era has been somber for the Old Trafford club and its fans, but with the Red Devils winning three trophies last season, including European silverware in the form of Europa League, many thought that finally, the Mancunian giants are back to business.
So far in the 2017-18 season, Jose Mourinho’s men have lived upto the expectations that the supporters have from them. Even ex-United veteran, Gary Neville, seems to be enjoying his team’s run at both the domestic and European level.
In fact, in a recent interview, the decorated right-back expressed more of his thoughts about his former club, and named the best performers for Manchester United so far this campaign.
Neville stated: (David de Gea) is the best player in the club by a long way, he really is. They’ve got some great players but he stands out now as being incredible. Antonio Valencia deserves a special mention for the way he’s adapted over the last two or three years to becoming a right-back, and not just a right-back, an outstanding right-back.
“I’m a bit sad that the partnership between Pogba and Matic has been broken. That was developing into something quite good. Pogba is a fantastic player, he deserves a special mention for the fact that you talk about leadership, characteristics, personality to play for United, always accepting the ball.
“Lukaku’s settled straight in, scored the goals that United missed last year. 15 draws last year was too many, 10 at home, but Everton’s a case in point on Sunday.”
However, many still belive that Mourinho’s dream team is far from finished, and so does the former Red Devils’ defender, as he named the five superstars he would ‘love’ to see at Old Trafford in the future.
Speaking to Stretty News TV, Neville added: “We can get a lot better. I’d like to see one more flair player in the team. I’d like to see a winger who can beat a man and get everyone on the edge of their seat.
“Having been in Spain for four months, I love (Antoine) Griezmann. I would love to see Griezmann at United. He’s quick, he’s inventive, he can beat players he can score goals.
“You would love to see Cristiano (Ronaldo) and Neymar and (Gareth) Bale and people like that because you know they would light up Old Trafford. (Luis) Suarez, even though he played for Liverpool, is a United player. It’s arrogance to say that but he’s fantastic. He scores goals and he’s aggressive.”
