Mancunian clubs’ defenders Fabian Delph and Phil Jones reportedly missed England’s training session ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.

The Englishmen were on the pitch for the complete 90 minutes of their respective Premier league clashes. Delph traveled to Stamford Bridge in Manchester City’s Premier League win against Chelsea, and Jones paired up with Chris Smalling in United’s 4-0 thumping of Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace.

However, as per BT, the duo sat out England’s training session that took place on Monday. It was reported that the English squad trained at the newly-named Sir Bobby Charlton Pitch on Monday morning, ahead of their Group F match against Slovenia this Thursday.

The Premier League duo were being assessed by Football Association’s medical team on Monday afternoon, while some of the other players, including Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, and Michael Keane did a recovery session.

It was further reported that a final decision is yet to be made as to whether Delph and Jones would return to their respective clubs for medical attention.

Gareth Southgate’s men currently sit at the top of Group F, and are five points clear of second placed Slovakia. A victory over Slovenia at Wembley on Thursday would cement their place in next year’s World Cup in Russia. England would then be traveling to Lithuania three days later, to play their final World Cup qualifier.
