Ernesto Valverde’s appointment as the manager of Barcelona became a catalyst to many changes, and one of those changes could include a new midfield mechanism at the club, as he looks to raid the Premier League for Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, and Mesut Ozil.

Since the Spaniard’s takeover at the Barca helm, he has managed to turn around his side’s run of mediocrity with consistent and quality football. However, Valverde is not satisfied with the underwhelming performances of Andre Gomes, and has consequently been on the lookout for more reliable midfielders.

Manchester United star duo Mata and Herrera are on the scouting list of the Spanish giants, according to many compelling reports. Moreover, the Barca tactician is expected to not stop just there, and is aiming to snatch Ozil from North London as well, as per Diario Gol.

Luckily for the Catalans, all three Premier League superstars are set to run out their contracts next summer, especially the German, whose future has been constantly speculated to be away from the Emirates.

On the other hand, if reports from Mirror are to be believed, the Red Devils have offered the Spaniards fresh contracts in order to tie their future at Old Trafford, despite falling down Jose Mourinho’s pecking order since the arrival of Nemanja Matic, and by extension, Paul Pogba. The plausibility of this event is widely considered probable, and imposes an impossible barrier to overcome for Valverde’s side.

The German international, however, seems to have kept an open mind about an Arsenal departure. Though the midfield maestro’s agent confirmed ongoing talks with the club for a possible contract extension, Arséne Wenger has admitted that his side is far from announcing anything.

Nevertheless, the 53-year-old is keen on introducing fresh names at the Nou Camp midfield, and is expected to buff up his squad during the winter transfer window.
