Edinson Cavani has come out to speak openly about the much-talked-about rift between him and his PSG teammate Neymar, and has insisted that the issues have been resolved.

The brawl started after Cavani took, and apparently missed, a penalty during a Ligue 1 clash against Lyon, with the Brazilian superstar having expressed his desire to take the spot-kick himself. There was also a disagreement over a free-kick in the same game, with Dani Alves snatching the ball from the big Uruguayan, and handing it to his compatriot to take the set-piece.

There were even reports which stated that the PSG board was forced to pay a huge amount to Cavani to take him off penalties. However, the Uruguayan has rejected these claims, and insisted that the situation has been resolved, and that it was not a big problem in the first place. But the forward did go a step ahead to convey that although everything is fine on the field, they would never be like a family off it.

Cavani stated in a recent interview (via SFR Sport): “The penalty business, it is in the past. These things happen in football. The important thing now is to find a solution together and to operate as a team. Ultimately, this is what enables you to achieve great things.

“We need to be a competitive team, we do not need to all be friends or like a family. The most important thing is that everybody is professional on the pitch and gives 100 percent. Outside of that, everybody has their own life, their own way of being and their own way of thinking.”
