Marco Asensio has gone on to earn recognition and fame as the youngster continues to impress for both club and country. The Real Madrid star impressed last season under manager Zinedine Zidane, and this term too, he has found his ground.
The Spaniard has started seven La Liga games for the champions, and had already found the net thrice and provided two assists. Interestingly, he is Real’s top scorer in La Liga this term, and was on the money over the weekend as Zidane’s men cruised to victory against Eibar.
Despite him having an important role for Los Blancos, however, things aren’t exactly how they seem. According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Asensio wants to be a focal part of Real’s attack, and play in crucial games more often. The competition is vast, with Isco and Gareth Bale on the contention too, and Asensio wants to start more matches to show his potential.
Several top clubs, including PSG and the Manchester duo, were said to be interested in him last summer, but Asensio opted to stay at the Bernabeu.
With the Spaniard’s heart set at Madrid, it is likely that he will want to remain in the Spanish capital for many years, but will seek assurance on how he is used. He is keen to hold talks with the club at the end of the season in order to see how prominent he could become.
