After realising that adding just Nemanja Matic to the Manchester United squad would not completely solve his cry for a midfield to be reckoned with, Jose Mourinho now wants Real Madrid superstar Toni Kroos at Old Trafford.
Though the addition of the Serbian has enhanced the lethality of Paul Pogba, United’s midfield seems to be under crisis whenever injuries strike.
With the Frenchman and Marouane Fellaini sidelined, the boss has been left with just Ander Herrera and Matic in the centre of the park, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan burdened with creative duties.
Consequently, the Portuguese is on the lookout for a midfielder that will stabilise his side’s focal point in long-term, and has identified Kroos as the perfect candidate.
The rumour surfaced through Calciomercato, from Matt Gault of Football Whispers, via Sky Sports. According to Gault, the former Los Blancos manager is aware of the difficulty he is about to face if he were to make an attempt to lure the talented midfielder away from the Bernabeu.
Having directly been involved in 44 goals in the La Liga and the Champions League since his switch to the Spanish capital, the German will certainly offer the Premier League giants a creative edge, and will further boost Pogba’s attacking prowess.
The 54-year-old is expected to make a move for the former Bayern Munich star come January, despite the Galacticos showing no hint of any willingness to let go of the player any time soon.
