The very mention of Jose Mourinho wanting a move away from the Old Trafford to Paris Saint-Germain would leave the Manchester United faithful in a state of infuriation. But it seems like they could descend further beyond that after learning the aggravating reason behind his wish to depart.
The Portuguese mastermind has been linked with a move to the French capital for the past couple of weeks. Moreover, the PSG higher-ups reportedly want to appoint a high-profile manager at the club’s helms should Unai Emery fail to bring silverware to the Parc des Princes, which they expect him to fail at.
On the other hand, Mourinho himself has admitted his admiration for the French giants; even going as far as labeling them as ‘special’. The former Real Madrid boss said in a recent interview: “At the moment in Paris there is something special. Magic, quality, youth, it’s fantastic.”
And according to The Sun, that is one of the reasons that sparked the United boss’ plan to escape England. The ex-Chelsea manager is reportedly attracted by the financial flexibility of the Parisians, and believes his side cannot compete with bitter rivals Manchester City, even in the future.
However, with the 54-year-old reported to be unhappy about his club’s lack of proper backing in the transfer market, coupled with their failed attempts at signing Ivan Perisic and a decent left-back, it is no surprise that he has gotten back to his antics.
Obviously, if proved to be true, this could potentially end up causing an uproar from the Red Devils’ faithful, and rightly so. Hardly any fanbase would wish for a man in charge who doesn’t believe in his club’s future and potential, especially at a club as big as Manchester United.
