Rio Ferdinand was recently quizzed about whom he would prefer to play under between Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, and the Englishman had his answer.

Mourinho and Guardiola took over the two Mancunian giants last season. The celebrated duo share a slice of history, being considered as arch-rivals since their time in Spain, when they were at the helms of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

Both managers have won some big titles in their illustrious career, and follow a very different kind of philosophy when it comes to their approach on the field.

Guardiola often rallies his team to an attacking mode with some subtle passing and domination on the ball, whereas Mourinho is known for a defensive approach with a lot of physicality.

Ferdinand, when pressed on his preferred choice on BT Sport’s The Clare Balding Show, had a confused reaction that was initially split between both.

The decorated centre-back answered: “As a defender, Jose, because I’d get well protected. But if I was going there to commentate on my attacking players in front of me like I used to, Pep. For enjoyment, I’m going to go for Pep.”

The Citizens have definitely been an enjoyment to watch on the field, as they currently sit on the top of the domestic table, enjoying an 8-point lead over second-placed Red Devils.
