Paris Saint-Germain have imported some of the most talented footballers in the world to Paris. But the PSG player Man Utd legend Eric Cantona wants to see at Old Trafford is not Neymar Jr. or Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman became one of the most influential foreign signings in Premier League history in his five-year spell under Sir Alex Ferguson; both on and off the pitch.
However, despite his antics, Cantona is still respected, and regarded as a legend of the game. And his opinions are still given a lot of priority in the red side of Manchester.
So when asked about which player he wants to see his former club sign, the ex-French international’s pick may end up as a great advice to Jose Mourinho and co.
When quizzed about who he wanted to see as the next No. 7 at United, the forward picked Javier Pastore, and further added (via FullTimeDevils): “I love Pastore. He plays for Paris but he doesn’t play in the team. They have two great players – Pastore and Ben Arfa and neither of them play.”
On the other hand, Antoine Griezmann has been strongly linked with a €100 million move to the Premier League giants, and would likely sport the No. 7 jersey if the transfer materialises. However, that idea does not appeal to the ‘Kung-Fu kicker’.
“Yes, why not? But Pastore is very special,” he responded when asked if Griezmann could fit the role. “Pastore will surprise you every time. Every time he touches the ball he surprises you.
“He gives the ball to someone no-one had seen before. He surprises all the fans. I think he is a great player. He played for Argentina, which is a great country – but he doesn’t play for Paris, which is a small club.”
Well, one thing is for sure – Cantona doesn’t shy away from making potentially controversial statements.
