Eric Cantona has put forward a suggestion for which player from world football he would like to see pull on the Manchester United jersey.
In a recent interview with United YouTube fan channel Full Time Devils, the legendary striker admitted that he would love to see Paris Saint-Germain’s Javier Pastore at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old Argentinian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, but Cantona’s insistence on his qualities may just get a few United fans’ hopes up.
“I love Pastore,” Cantona revealed. “He plays for Paris but he doesn’t play in the team. They have two great players – Pastore and Ben Arfa and neither of them play.”
The Frenchman was also asked about the possibility of United signing compatriot Antoine Griezmann, but the club legend seemed more keen on talking about Pastore. He also took a sly dig at PSG in the process, referring to them as a ‘small club’
“Yes, why not?” said Cantona when asked about the Atletico talisman. “But Pastore is very special. Pastore will surprise you every time. Every time he touches the ball he surprises you. He gives the ball to someone no-one had seen before. He surprises all the fans.
“I think he [Pastore] is a great player. He played for Argentina, which is a great country – but he doesn’t play for Paris, which is a small club.”
