Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs was heavily mocked on Twitter by the footballing fans around the globe after he named his preferred combined playing XI from his former club and rivals Manchester City ahead of this Sunday’s Manchester Derby.
The former Red Devils’ star picked a surprising six players from Old Trafford, and decided to go with five from league leaders City.
However, he was trolled mostly for one selection that hardly anyone anticipated. The selection that raised several eyebrows was Marcus Rashford making it to the team over Raheem Sterling.
While both the England Internationals have found the back of the net on crunch situations, it’s the 23-year-old Sterling who has been a first-team player, while Rashford has come off the bench on most occasions.
Giggs thinks Rashford is better than Martial and Sterling, and some of you wanted him as manager lmao pic.twitter.com/mzk2SJkLt0

Giggs has Rashford over Martial/Sterling lol, we can officially conclude that he should never be United manager. https://t.co/x6WFal2MMb

David de Gea was called up for his stop-stopping duty, while Kevin de Bruyne, alongside David Silva and Nemanja Matic, formed the midfield trio. Also, selecting Antonio Valencia over the most expensive defender in football, Kyle Walker, didn’t go too well with the City fans.
Though Valencia has always been a consistent performer for United over the past nine seasons, Walker has managed to score a little more points than the Ecuadorian so far this season.
However, a great performance by Valencia and Rashford in the upcoming derby can put all the trolls to rest.
