Manchester United, along with arch-rivals Manchester City, are set to compete for the services of Anderlecht’s star teenage player, with both sides looking to get their target.

City’s youth structure has gone on to earn some solid reputation in recent times, and the club is now considered to be scouting Anderlecht’s Eliot Matazo, who plays for the side’s U16s. United, too, are vying for the player.

Belgium has grown in stature in producing dearth of talent at the academy level, and no wonder the two Manchester clubs are in the pursuit of the same player.

According to report in the DH, the player is currently the captain of Anderlecht’s U16 side, and will not be allowed to sign a professional contract until he turns 16 on February 15th.

United do not want the player to sign any contract, and instead just move to their academy. Furthermore, the report adds that Romelu Lukaku’s family is also trying to convince him to make the switch to the red half of Manchester.

Lukaku is a Belgian international, and joined United in the summer from fellow Premier League club Everton. The nation’s leading scorer is thought to be an important force that could make a difference in getting the player.

It has been said that Lukaku’s family has spoken with the Matazo family to explain the merits of joining the Old Trafford club over their inter-city rivals.

Paul Pogba reportedly played the role of an agent for United during Lukaku’s transfer to the club, and now, the striker himself has gone into the act as well.
