Two Of Europe’s Biggest Clubs Interested In Signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s drop from grace at United has been a pitiable one. Having gotten into the groove of things in his debut season in a pretty slow manner, supporters thought this season would be different.
Initially, it did look like that was the case and then some, as the Armenian looked set to shatter the assist records by putting up outstanding performances week in, week out.
However, all of that proved to be too good to last, and slowly but surely, his form at Old Trafford took a major hit. He has since come to the point where Jose Mourinho has had to oust him from the matchday squads altogether, with other talented individuals vying for the spot.
As of such, a transfer away from the club seems very much in the build-up, and according to multiple reports, the 28-year-old has now come under the radar of two big names.
As per Corriere Dello Sport and ESPN, Mkhitaryan has been given the ‘green light’ to make a move to Italian giants Inter Milan, with some sources even hoping that he could be used as a counterweight to potentially sign Ivan Perisic or Joao Mario.
Further, Independent strongly believes that it is Borussia Dortmund who are most likely to re-sign their star player, and have shown the ‘strongest interest’.
Having done the same with Shinji Kagawa after he too, had two unremarkable years at Old Trafford, it won’t be a surprise if the Bundesliga side seeks to do it again.
Both are equally tempting options for the attacking midfielder to consider. At Milan, he’ll find a new team and a country, consequently leading to a fresh possibility of challenges and chances to develop even further.
At Dortmund, he will return to familiar faces and a set of fans that will remain loyal and electric towards him no matter what.
At the moment, both prospects certainly seem to be infinitely better than warming the bench neglected at Old Trafford, and the decision he makes will be an immensely vital one.
