Daley Blind Could Move To La Liga Because He Has The ‘Barcelona DNA’
Barcelona is as attractive a destination as any, and would certainly be the ideal location for a forgotten talent to head to should the circumstances align just right.
Something similar seems to be brewing in the case of Daley Blind, and as per certain sources of speculation, the Dutch defender might be headed to the Catalan giants come January.
As per Sports Witness, several sources in Spain claim the deal to be one in the making, and that Blind is believed to have the requisite ‘Barcelona DNA’ for the job.
The situation seems to have developed due to the looming departure of Javier Mascherano to China in January, which could cause a great deal of worry for the Catalans defensively. As of such, Blind would be an ideal and apt choice to fill the spot.
Apart from being versatile in the sense that he can be deployed as a left-back, a center-back, and as shown by his earliest days under Louis Van Gaal, a central defensive midfielder as well, the player’s current situation at Old Trafford could also tip the scale in Barca’s favor.
The 27-year-old hasn’t been used much by Jose Mourinho save for Champions League outings, which on the whole doesn’t amount to much. As of such, the player certainly seems surplus to requirement with the Premier League side, and the move could very much become a reality.
To add to the exit factor is his contract, which is in its final year, and as per reports, Blind won’t be looking to renew it, which would make the January transfer a highly probable one.
The same source added that his agent, Rob Jansen, has been on the receiving end of several phone calls regarding the availability of his client, and as of such, one of Louis Van Gaal’s earliest signings could very well become the latest player to leave United’s ranks.
