Man United are plotting to bring back former defender Jonny Evans following Eric Bailly’s unfortunate injury.

Though the Northern Irishman has divided opinion amongst United supporters, he did remain a loyal servant of the club for a decade starting from 2006, before eventually getting offloaded during Louis van Gaal’s reign over Old Trafford.

However, according to Mirror, boss Jose Mourinho reportedly believes letting Evans depart was a significant mistake, which he now aims to rectify.

Furthermore, bitter rivals City and Arsenal are also bidding their chances on securing the West Brom star’s services.

Whilst Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly had a £20 million bid rejected during the summer transfer season, the Gunners merely showed some interest. Nevertheless, both parties have the former Red Devil on a high-priority list going into the January window.

As per the report, the Hawthorns outfit is open to cashing in on the talented centre-back if a bid around the region of £30 million is received.

And with Bailly’s long-term injury raising United’s interest in the Northern Ireland international, they might just meet that requirement, especially with Chris Smalling hardly looking reliable in the long run.

The 29-year-old has become a vital cog in the West Brom defense, and is a fan-favourite who could bolster the Old Trafford backline alongside Phil Jones and Bailly.
