Real Madrid And Barcelona Fighting To Sign Daley Blind

When it comes to bettering bitter rivals, often on-field performances alone do not suffice.

With that regard, Real Madrid can’t even boast there, what with their most recent defeat to Barcelona and the ever-increasing gap between the two sides in the table.

However, not much can be done to even the playing field on the financial side of things, with Lose Blancos allegedly ready to hijack the deal for a player that the Catalan giants seem in dire need of.

As per Don Balon, Florentino Perez is contemplating a move for Man Utd’s Daley Blind, who has emerged as Barcelona’s chief target to replace China-bound Javier Mascherano in the month of January.

Madrid’s bid can be a hard one to refuse for the 27-year-old, who seems to have significantly fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

While Barcelona’s attempt has the added benefit of potentially softening the deal for Samuel Umtiti, for whom United are believed to have a strong interest towards, Real wish to make the signing in order to secure him with Sergio Ramos in the heart of their defense.

Both teams are tempting destinations for the Dutch player, who has also been deployed as a central defensive midfielder at Old Trafford, besides being used in nearly all the positions in their ever-changing backline.

The added prospect of beating their rivals, and also decreasing the widening point difference, could make the Galacticos formidable bidders for his signature.

All of this can be looked at positively by United, who will potentially be the party to benefit the most should a competitive bidding war emerge.
