Jose Mourinho is eager to spend – that much is clear after the manager’s rant attributing City’s superior transfer spree to be the reason behind their success so far this season.

This doesn’t change the fact that United too, splurged quite a bit under the Portuguese manager, but perhaps not in the most economical of fashion.

With the winter window currently underway, it is obvious that should Mourinho hope to make a decent dent in City’s title hopes, some clever and impactful arrivals are must. As of such, the master tactician has set out his wishlist.

According to Daily Mail, Mourinho has informed scouts to look into the availability of defenders on both flanks as well as an attacking midfielder.

His search is justified and understandable, as currently, the combination that works best for Mourinho in the full-back position is that of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

While their in-form brilliance is in no doubt, the fact that both of them are veterans is a thing of serious worry. It is precisely this that Mourinho hopes to amend during the winter window.

As far as Luke Shaw goes, despite his remarkable performances in the past two weeks, a world-class presence seems lacking in the young Englishman, which would make a hunt into the market vital.

With Henrikh Mkhitaryan unable to live up to his performances from the start of the season, the attacking midfielder spot is one that is required badly by the Mancunian giants.

The difference in play when the likes of Juan Mata or Paul Pogba are able to man the position successfully is a staggering one, and also apparent in results.

But a new signing will do no harm, and supporters will be eager to see what kind of talent the Red Devils will be successful in attracting by the end of the month.
