Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has been continuously linked with a move to Premier League club Manchester United, and the fans may finally see the Welshman at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho is said to be a big fan of the former Tottenham Hotspur player, and he even expressed his interest in the winger over the summer of 2017. But Real held on, as they had no intention of selling their costliest ever player.

Bale has been injury-prone at the Santiago Bernabeu, and has missed major portions of last season. This term too, he has been in and out, and has only featured 16 times. But he has been busy raking in performances, with seven goals and five assists to his name.

Bale has won three Champions League titles and a La Liga crown at the Bernabeu, but now, it has been claimed that he wants to leave the Spanish giants.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Bale has asked Real president Florentino Perez to be allowed to leave the club in order to join Manchester United. Talks are said to be ongoing between the two clubs, and Bale is very interested to move to Old Trafford.

The wide-man has somewhat lost the status he once enjoyed since his move to the club four years ago. He performed well in the first two seasons, but his stocks have been moving in a downward direction since.

One thing he now needs to focus on is playing regularly and helping the team with goals and assists to regain his confidence.

However, it is hugely unlikely that Bale will leave Madrid for United this month, especially with the Red Devils looking set to seal the deal for Alexis Sanchez.

A deal in the summer could be possible, and it will be interesting to see whether Jose will then go for the Welshman, or focus on strengthening other parts of the pitch. Besides Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo is also believed to be seeking a return to his former club.
