Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested in a move for Marcos Rojo if his issues over a new contract with Man Utd are not resolved in the next few weeks.

According to reports in The Sun, United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be furious about the amount of time being spent on negotiations, as he values the defender as a very important member of his squad.

Despite being the club with the most clean sheets in the Premier League so far this season, it is evident that the Reds are struggling with inconsistency in central defense.

Phil Jones has been a key member of the United back four this season, but still has quite a few off days. Chris Smalling can look like the best defender in the league on his day, but those days are very hard to come by, and the Englishman is a very unsettling presence at the heart of defence.

Eric Bailly has probably been the club’s best defender when he has played, but he too, is struggling with a number of niggling injuries this season.

Summer signing Victor Lindelöf has struggled to adapt to the demands of the English League, and has been underwhelming in his first season at Old Trafford.

Marcos Rojo is far from perfect, but wears his heart on his sleeve whenever he plays for the club. His passionate style of play has made him a firm fan favourite, and someone Mourinho trusts heavily.

The Portuguese manager is desperate to see him remain at the club beyond his current deal, which expires in 15 months, and hence, is frustrated at the lack of progress in negotiations.

PSG have been monitoring the situation with great interest, and are said to be preparing a bid in the region of £30 million to prise him away from Old Trafford. Ex-United player and fellow Argentine Angel Di Maria could also be used as bait to convince Rojo into making the move to the French capital.

United though, are determined to tie the 27-year-0ld down to a new deal, and have insisted that the cause of the delay is only due to the fact that it takes longer to negotiate new deals with senior players.

However, Mourinho remains desperate to see negotiations reach a conclusion as soon as possible.
