Mancunian giants are eager to take their rivalry to all areas of the great game. After providing much entertainment on the field, it would appear that they are adamant to not disappoint on the business end of things either. Both sides are eager to acquire targets to reinforce their rosters.
It certainly appears that midfield is an area they are eager to invest in – Man United to accommodate the spots of the retiring Carrick and the exit-bound Fellaini, and Man City to simply leave no areas uncovered in their quest for possible European dominance in the season to come.
However, one player from this region, who initially looked to be on the radar of both clubs and consequently in the midst of a bidding war, is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred. But there may not be a war after all.
As per M.E.N Sport, Manchester United will be the team that will be looking to finally secure the services of the 25-year-old.

This comes after City finally abandoned all interest in the Brazilian, a situation that apparently occurred midway in the winter-window itself.
In fact, the Ukrainian club had expected Jose Mourinho’s side to make a bid on deadline day, and had even sent representatives to England in the hopes of something materializing.
