United target Jerome Boateng has admitted that he is ‘considering his future’ at Bayern Munich ahead of the summer transfer window.

The German defender has established himself as one of the best center-backs of his generation at Bayern, winning numerous trophies along the way, including  6 Bundesliga titles, the UEFA Champions League, the Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup, amongst other titles.

Having spent just under a decade at the club, the 29-year-old is considering his future with the Bavarian giants, and could be set for a move away from the Allianz Arena in the summer.

The centre-back recently told Socrates magazine: “I’ve experienced everything at FC Bayern, and I am slowly coming to a point where I must answer myself certain questions.

“‘What are the goals I have not reached yet? Do I, time and time again, want to prove myself at the same club with the same pre-conditions? Those are not necessarily classic questions regarding the career, but vital questions and, in the end, questions that drive people.”

If he does decide to leave, Jose Mourinho will be determined to bring him to United.

The Portuguese boss has stated on several occasions that he is set to focus his spending on strengthening his defence in the summer, and the availability of Boateng will surely be music to his ears.

The defender would add some much-needed experience and solidity to a backline desperately requiring a leader, even more so now, considering Michael Carrick is set to retire at the end of the season.
