Reports have been surfacing since quite some time that Ajax’s talented winger, Justin Kluivert, could be on his way to Premier League giants Manchester United.

The teenage sensation has played 36 times across all competitions, and has scored 11 goals in return to cap off a satisfying season.

The Dutch club is determined to tie him down, but according to a report in Guardian, talks have broken down, and that, in turn, has increased his chances of joining Jose Mourinho’s side in the summer, despite interest from rivals Manchester City as well.

The reason, as cited by the report, is that the Dutchman wants to become the highest paid player at Ajax, and has demanded a significant rise in pay, which the Eredivisie outfit has refused to hand out.

With an exit on the cards, it is believed that the Mancunian club is in pole position. A report from Arab News had claimed that City are the favourites to get him, but it is looking likely it would be the other way round.

The promising youngster will bolster any side given his attributes and prowess. What is interesting is that both United and City have plenty of attacking options in their ranks, and it remains to be seen whether Kluivert gets the desired game time.

The youngster is being eyed as a player for the future, and clubs feels he is a real asset as far as the depth of the squad is concerned.

At United, Anthony Martial’s future remains under major doubt, and Kluivert could come in as the Frenchman’s replacement if he were to depart.

Earlier, Jose had stated that thanks to the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, United will have no need to search for a forward in the summer window. But as rumours go, someone like Kluivert could be too big a temptation for the Portuguese to resist.
