For most clubs, the season has already ended, and the next campaign has to be on the minds of most managers. With glory in sight, the transfer market is already buzzing with potential deals, and the combined wish to purchase targets and sell surplus players will ensure that quite a busy summer might be on the way.
Here are the five stories relating to transfers that dominated the day:
Willian Wants Out?
Reports of Jose Mourinho wanting Willian at Old Trafford have been rife for quite a while, but now, there may be some reciprocation.
As per Sky Sports, Willian himself wants to leave Chelsea, and the interest from United has given him plenty of reasons why. The Brazilian was left out of the starting lineup in Chelsea’s FA Cup winning team, and the source adds that if Conte remains as head coach, Willian will certainly make the switch.
But that also begs the question of Conte’s own future at the Bridge.
Lewandowski to Chelsea
In an interesting train of events, Sport.PL reports that Chelsea have made a ‘concrete’ offer at signing Robert Lewandowski.
The 29-year-old is arguably one of the finest strikers in the world, and it is easy to see why Chelsea might want him in view of Morata’s mixed debut campaign with the Blues.
The Pole has been linked with Real Madrid before, and it will take Chelsea a mammoth offer before Bayern will part ways with him.
Bayern Munich Target Valencia Forward
Bayern may have transfer plans of their own after this season’s Champions League ousting. Marca understands that the Bavarians are leading the race to sign Valencia’s prolific forward Rodrigo Moreno. The 27-year-old has had a great stint with the Spanish side, and is valued at around €60 million.
Valencia manager Marcelino had this to say about the possibility: “He is a very important player, but this is football. The player has his opinion and then there is the club that owns his rights and others who want him. If all three parties reach an agreement, the coach can do nothing.”
Barcelona Reveal Dembele Price-Tag
Ousmane Dembele may be a star on the move this summer. The 21-year-old has been attracting interest from Liverpool, and Barca are aware of this.
As per Don Balon, the Spanish giants have quoted a sizable price-tag of £88 million to even consider letting the Frenchman go. This is interesting, considering that he was purchased for a huge £134 million from Borussia Dortmund last summer itself.
Hazard’s Next Club
Daily Mail journalist Pete Jenson believes that Real Madrid are closer than ever at securing Eden Hazard this summer. The Belgian, whose penalty won Chelsea the FA Cup this week, is believed to be Madrid’s top target, and the player himself may be inclined towards an exit.
The report adds that should Madrid wish to better their domestic position, a creator like Hazard is a must on their star-studded roster. It will be interesting to see what occurs in the end, with the player himself having left all opportunities open for his future.
