It looks like Jose Mourinho is all set to go aggressive in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Portuguese is reported to be eyeing a classy central defender, and the rumours of Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld have gained ground once again.

Reports had earlier stated that the Spurs man is someone Jose is very keen to have in the side and boost his defensive options. But United have plenty of players in that position, and now, the manager is willing to let a key player go in order to land the Belgian.

According to The Independent, Jose has identified the player he is willing to offload to accommodate the new singing, and that defender is Eric Bailly.

The centre-back is not in the manager’s plans right now. He wasn’t used in the FA Cup final, and has appeared very less since coming back from a long-term injury. Since his arrival at the club in 2016, he has just appeared in 56 games for the club.

In the 2017-18 season, he made just 18 appearances for United, and Jose is concerned about him being injury-prone. The player arrived with a lot of potential, but he hasn’t quite lived up to the reputation.

Alderweireld is believed to be wanting a move away from Spurs, and after an initial £44m price-tag quoted in several reports, the price has now jumped to £55m. But it looks like the Mancunian club is still set to go for the central defender and do away with Bailly.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international joined the club in a £30.7million deal from Villarreal, but could now see himself get shipped out. United are confident that Bailly would get enough suitors in the market.
