Jose Mourinho Targeting Two Experienced Strikers, Reveals Di Marzio
Jose Mourinho intends to sign a striker this summer, trusted Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed.
Despite the Portuguese tactician claiming that his focus would be on bringing in defensive and midfield reinforcements in the current summer window, he now appears set to sign a backup striker for Romelu Lukaku.
As per Di Marzio, Mourinho is set to take full advantage of Matteo Darmian’s potential transfer to Juventus, by asking for Mario Mandzukic in return.
The former Atletico Madrid man has been linked with an exit from the Old Lady for quite some time, mostly due to his dissatisfaction at being fielded on the left flank.

Manchester United could certainly take advantage of this situation, and sign the experienced 32-year-old, as long as the forward is prepared to play second fiddle to Lukaku.

The aforementioned report adds that if the Red Devils fail to sign Mandzukic, they will turn their attention towards signing West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic.
Mourinho already knows the 29-year-old well from their time together at Inter, and believes the Austrian could be the perfect alternative to swoop for if the Mandzukic deal fails to materialise.
It remains to be seen which of the two experienced strikers end up arriving at the Theatre of Dreams, but what is abundantly clear is that Manchester United intend to fully bolster their squad to mount a genuine title charge next season.
