United will sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, but only on one condition.
With Michael Carrick having already retired and Marouane Fellaini’s departure looking imminent, Jose Mourinho reportedly intends to bring in two world-class central midfield reinforcements this summer.
The Red Devils seem to be in advanced stages of wrapping up a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk superstar Fred, but negotiations for their other top target, Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, appear to be nowhere near completion.
Some sources have claimed that the 23-year-old midfielder’s £80m switch to the Old Trafford outfit is only a matter of time, while contrary reports have stated that United have given up their pursuit of the Serb altogether.

Amid such chaotic speculation, a source close to home, viz. Manchester Evening News, has revealed that while United maintain their interest in Milinkovic-Savic, they will only go through with this transfer on one big condition.
As per MEN, Mourinho will go all out to secure the Serbian international’s services if United talisman Paul Pogba ends up departing from the Theatre of Dreams this summer.
The Frenchman has been rumoured to be unhappy in Manchester lately, especially since the relationship between him and the Portuguese tactician turned sour in the middle of the recently-concluded season.
Pogba even refused to completely rule out a potential departure from the Mancunian club in a recent interview, thereby adding fuel to fire as far as his future is concerned.
Therefore, at present, it is literally anyone’s guess as to where the France international will play his football next season.
But if he does part ways with United once again, Mourinho already has a top-class replacement lined up, with the mega-rich English juggernauts prepared to act at a moment’s notice.
