OFFICIAL: Real Madrid Sign Talented Defender For £35m
Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Álvaro Odriozola from Real Sociedad.
Los Blancos have been in the news over the last few weeks. In the midst of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving, the Spanish giants have announced the arrival of Álvaro Odriozola from Sociedad.
Born in Donostia, Odriozola started his career at Marianistas before joining Sociedad’s academy in 2006. In 2014, he earned his first professional contract after putting some impressive performances for the B side.
Odriozola eventually made his La Liga debut as he started in a 2-0 away win against Malaga in January 2017.

Last season, he became the first choice right-back at Real Sociedad, making 41 appearances and also scoring his first goal for the club. His performances impressed Julen Lopetegui, who named the player in his 23-man squad for the World Cup.
Real Madrid had announced that Lopetegui would take over the managerial post made vacant by Zinedine Zidane after their Champions League hattrick.

But this didn’t go well with the Spanish officials, who decided to sack the manager just two days before their opening fixture with Portugal.
Lopetegui is said to be a huge fan of Odriozola, and has decided to bring him over to Madrid. Los Blancos agreed to match his release clause and deposited the amount at the Spanish FA’s headquarters.
The 22-year-old has signed a six-year contract, and will be providing backup for Dani Carvajal before he cements his place in the future. A medical is set to be scheduled soon, which will be followed with an official unveiling at the Bernabeu.
This move would also allow Moroccan International Achraf Hakimi to make his much-awaited move to Borussia Dortmund in the coming days.
