Social media adds an aspect to the transfer market in particular and the football world in general that has become a brand new source of excitement and speculation.

While news outlets usually keep a close eye on the activity of particular targets during the window, these days, the individual activity on their numerous social media platforms alone may do that task.

However, speculation is the key word here, and more often than not, the events don’t actually materialize into anything. Such seems to be the case with one player who perfectly fits Manchester United’s needs at the moment.

The Mancunian side has been in the pursuit for a world-class centre-back for far too long now, with their existing options of Jones, Smalling, and Lindelof seeming far from certain to be apt partners for Eric Bailly in the heart of their defense.

Marcos Rojo, meanwhile, is being linked with a departure to newly promoted Premier League side Wolves instead. In return, the past weeks have seen heavy speculation that Toby Alderweireld or Harry Maguire could make the switch to Old Trafford.

However, the Instagram activity of Barcelona defender Yerry Mina is one to take note of.

The 23-year-old Colombian removed ‘Barcelona player’ from his bio, and then started following Manchester United’s official handle, as well as its players Paul Pogba and Antonio Valencia.

The act has led many supporters to get immensely excited, and the source added that a fee in the range of £35 million will be required in order for United to purchase the player that the Catalan giants acquired in January.

This will certainly be smaller than the £60 million plus fees that both of United’s current targets are each thought to be worth, an amount that the higher-ups at Old Trafford have already shown doubts regarding.
