Cristiano Ronaldo’s second homecoming went quite smoothly, as he helped his side secure a 1-0 win on the night and maintain their perfect Champions League record of having won 3 games out of 3 in the ongoing campaign.

The former Manchester United man was received very well by the home fans present at Old Trafford, with his name being chanted both before and after the game.

Despite having played a part in setting up Paulo Dybala’s sole goal of the match, Cristiano himself failed to get on the scoresheet, as his several attempts on goal were kept out by some magnificent saves by Reds’ shot-stopper David De Gea.

Ronaldo did enjoy playing at his former chomping grounds, however, and he expressed the following on Instagram after the game: “An important victory in a very emotional match for me. It was great playing at Old Trafford again. Thanks to all the fans for the reception and support.”

The 33-year-old was equally pleased with what happened after the game, as he ended up bumping into his footballing father and former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo posted the following Tweet after having met with the Scot:

A classy gesture from the Juventus talisman, who appears evidently delighted to see Sir Alex doing well after having undergone surgery for a brain haemorrhage earlier this year.
