Manchester United stunned Juventus with two goals in the final five minutes of their Group H encounter of the UEFA Champions League in Turin.

Spaniard Juan Mata curled in a free-kick with five minutes to go, before Ashley Young’s set-piece was bundled into his own net by Juventus defender Alex Sandro. Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo had put the hosts ahead with an outstanding volley in the 65th minute.

Here are the player ratings as Jose Mourinho’s men stayed supreme on the night.

David de Gea – 8

Made some class stops from Juan Cuadrado and Miralem Pjanic. The Spaniard’s distribution was occasionally handy, as United caused some issues.

Ashley Young – 8

Another positive game for Young, and he remained disciplined defensively. Stayed at par to stop Ronaldo, who moved away from Young’s side and he assisted the winner.

Chris Smalling – 7

A rare night of solidity for Smalling. Showed some real composure and strengths.

Victor Lindelof – 6

Did well for just over an hour, but was troubled from there on. The Swede was caught on his heels by Cristiano Ronaldo and punished.

Luke Shaw – 5

For the 2nd game in a row, Shaw wasn’t up to the mark. He did not support Martial enough, and showed Cuadrado respect at times.

Nemanja Matic – 6

A much-needed composed display for the Serb, and this performance will give him confidence after weeks of poor displays.

Ander Herrera – 8

Was one of the best midfielders on the pitch, and kept the game flowing. Was terrific to keep the movement on from defence and attack. Brought some welcome energy to the midfield.

Paul Pogba – 4

A poor display from the Frenchman, who was expected to shine on his return to Turin. Often gave away the possession.

Jesse Lingard – 4

Looked rusty after getting his first start since September.

Anthony Martial – 6

The youngster had a mixed night, and could have caused the right-back more issues.

Alexis Sanchez – 6

Relished the freedom of playing through the middle and worried Juventus, but his final decisions were the issue.

SUBSTITUTES:

Marcus Rashford – 6

Gave the side some energy and ran around tirelessly.

Juan Mata – 8

Got the equalising goal with a stunning free-kick.

Marouane Fellaini – 6

Had a decent return from injury. Did precisely what he was sent on to do – cause issues with his physical attributes.
