There seems to be no end in sight to the saga involving two of Manchester United‘s biggest figures – Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba.

The manager and the club talisman have been at loggerheads since the previous campaign, which has time and again fuelled speculation regarding the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford.

Issues did appear to be resolved after the duo attended a press conference together, but the temporary peace went down the drain post the Red Devils’ 2-2 draw with Southampton, when the two were reportedly involved in a heated dressing room exchange.

Pogba has since failed to start both the subsequent Premier League games for his club, having started the fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham on the bench.

While the World Cup winner did make an appearance against the Gunners in the second half, he was a spectator for the entirety of the 4-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.

A surprising moment during the Fulham game arrived in the 84th minute, when Mourinho decided to send on youngster Scott McTominay instead of the star Frenchman. According to the Times, following the shock decision, Paul Pogba slumped in his seat and looked frustrated.

After the game, the Portuguese tactician was asked what Pogba needs to do in order to return to the starting lineup, to which the gaffer replied: “He has to play with the same mentality as the team is playing.”

How will this saga further unfold? Only time will tell.
