The win was a much-needed accolade for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the defeat to PSG, and the Mancunian giants will certainly be fancying their chances to win it all in the FA Cup.
A player who wasn’t on the scoresheet but nevertheless made a brilliant impact on the game was Marcus Rashford. The English forward was hungry for goals, and was electric in his pace. In fact, one particular run of his won’t be easy to forget.
In the second half, after a period of play when United seemed certain to go ahead with a win after Chelsea refused to adapt, Rashford made a blistering run into the opposition’s half.
The individual effort was an added visual treat, as the youngster succeeded in taking out Cesar Azpilicueta, N’Golo Kante, and Pedro in decisive fashion. Unfortunately for him, the danger he created couldn’t be sustained.
Despite that, fans loved the encounter, and took to Twitter to express their utter delight at Rashford racing the three Chelsea players. It certainly felt like adding salt to wounds.
Spectacularly enough, it is easy to forget that Rashford is still registered for Manchester United as an U21 player.
The kind of showing he has put up under Solskjaer makes it seem obvious that if such opportunities are constantly fed to him, much can be achieved in the long run, and a beast of a player can be molded out in the years to come.
United next face Wolverhampton in the FA Cup, and Rashford and company will certainly be fancying their chances to try and win it all for Solskjaer.
