Manchester United secured a resounding 2-0 win over Chelsea to secure a birth in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba helped the visitors knock the cup holders out of the competition.

The Red Devils were set up brilliantly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose tactics nullified Maurizio Sarri’s setup. An impressive defensive display further enabled the Mancunians to put up a splendid performance in London.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer praised his side, stating: “The defending in the second half, when we had to, was fantastic. I’d like to pick out Chris [Smalling]. He’s been out for two months and played a fantastic game, brilliant.”

Chelsea are a good team and have a way to play against but Juan [Mata] for me made the difference. He did a fantastic job in between Jorginho and the two centre-backs and occupying their side. So defensively, we were absolutely perfect.

“With the ball, I thought we could have done better, we could have kept it more, especially the second half, but then again, we kept a clean sheet.”

The Norwegian also spoke of Manchester United‘s FA Cup quarter-final opponents, as he added: “It’s another away tie, we’d have preferred a home game, but that’s it: Wolves. We have to do it the hard way, they’re a very tough team to play against.”

As evident from the gaffer’s attitude, the Reds will definitely be prepared to give it their all and go all the way to win the competition.

In fact, Solskjaer’s team as well as the coaching staff seems to be relishing these challenging fixtures, with assistant coach Mike Phelan’s latest post on social media providing evidence for the same.

Phelan uploaded a funny GIF of a bouncing animal, with the caption: “Good to bounce back with a win (after PSG defeat)… Liverpool next… Big games coming thick and fast now, that’s what this football club relishes.”
