Manchester United’s fortunes are looking at a disastrous fall in the weeks to come. The club has been lacking in quality for numerous weeks now, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment as their permanent gaffer coming in circumstances far from amicable.

Ousting from the FA Cup, defeats to Wolves and Arsenal, and utterly hopeless displays all added to their woes.

Their Old Trafford leg against Barcelona held some hope as the Red Devils kept the Spanish giants at bay quite well, conceding only through a Luke Shaw own-goal. They were expected to travel to the Camp Nou and change their season about.

To the contrary, the side suffered a 3-0 battering via a Lionel Messi brace and a Philippe Coutinho goal. The team was awfully lacking in quality, and the likes of David De Gea and Paul Pogba performed well below par.

The Sun now reports that the baby-faced assassin didn’t spare his players after the full-time whistle. The report states that when the players entered the dressing room, they found Solskjaer sitting with his head in his hands.

The Norwegian then proceeded to address the squad, and properly tore into them for the uninspiring performance. He allegedly told the players that they weren’t giving their 100 percent, and reminded them of the huge platform the club had provided them with.

After laying down their lack of spirit, Solskjaer is reported to have told the players that a failure to win at Everton in their next Premier League outing would mean that the club may not attain Champions League football next season.

That prospect already looks like a tough dream for the Mancunians. Having thrown away valuable points in their recent league games, they are now at the mercy of the other top-four contenders faltering in order to qualify for Europe, let alone Champions League football.
