Manchester United finally had solid transfer news to share when they announced that they had agreed to terms with both Daniel James and Swansea City over a move to Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old winger had been linked with the Mancunian giants for weeks now and United will be relieved to secure a forward player as their other high-profile pursuits have allegedly failed.

The club did add in their announcement that further details and official moves would be made only after the international window opened.

While the Welshman playing in a Championship side did give a lot for supporters to dissect in terms of viewable performance, it was largely his pacey runs in the FA Cup from a season ago that were being circulated.

However, after the club confirmed the deal, supporters were given a taste of the winger’s abilities.

James featured for Wales during their match against Croatia in the Euro qualifier. The Welsh lads couldn’t do much to prevent a 2-1 defeat, but eager Manchester United fans were given a glimpse of their newest signing.

Most agreed that James was an ‘exciting’ prospect, although there were no exceptional comments made on his performance either, as the team managed by Ryan Giggs delivered an overall sub-par performance.

The large consensus was that the youngster simply didn’t see enough of the ball to display his quality and pace. The more cynical lot indicated that he was already the best crosser at Old Trafford, which is more an indication of the sordid showing of the wingers already at the club rather than a comment on James’ individual brilliance.

The more optimistic fans felt that James had the potential of becoming the next Ryan Giggs at United. His biggest moment of impact in the game came towards the end of the first half when he executed a brilliant cross into the box, only to be missed by his teammate Ben Davies.
