Manchester United have established contact with Napoli over the potential signing of Elseid Hysaj.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for full-backs who can replace the likes of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, and Hysaj is the newest name on their summer transfer wishlist, as per Sky Italia.
Since joining Napoli back in 2015, the 25-year-old has made 173 appearances for the Serie A outfit, establishing himself as the team’s first-choice right-back in the process.
Amid reported interest from Manchester United as well as Atletico Madrid, the Albanian international has recently opened the door for a prospective transfer by admitting that he is looking for a new challenge.
Speaking to DigitAlb, Hysaj stated (via The Sun): “I’m absolutely ready for a new challenge because I need change. I’m not the type of person who likes to stay at a club for too long.
“I want to have new experiences, learn about a new country, meet new people, play for another team and maybe try to win something. For me, my time at Napoli is over and I hope to find a team that will give me what I need.”
Manchester United‘s interest in Hysaj could mean that they have given up on their pursuit of Crystal Palace sensation Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Eagles turned down a second offer from the Mancunian giants earlier this week, demanding an upfront fee in the region of £45m and £50m.
