Romelu Lukaku has officially asked for a transfer away from Manchester United.

Lukaku has been hinting at a move away from the Old Trafford club for quite some time now, with his agent making it very clear that the forward would like to play in the Italian league.

The 26-year-old dropped yet another hint earlier this week, as he spoke about Inter’s newly-appointed boss Antonio Conte following Belgium’s 5-0 win over Scotland on Tuesday.

“Conte knows what I think about him,” Lukaku stated (via Sport Witness). “You know I’m not somebody who likes to talk about my personal relationship with managers, but I’m a Manchester United player.

“I have a contract and I have to respect my club. If something happens, you know, I think the teams and my agents have to do the talking. I just make my decision and stay out of it.”

Right after he made these public statements, Lukaku supposedly reached out to Manchester United to inform them of his future plans.

In fact, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the star striker appears to have officially told the Red Devils that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Having lost his spot in the starting lineup to Marcus Rashford since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Lukaku believes his Manchester United experience has come to an end, and he now wishes to try something new elsewhere.

However, while Inter remains his most likely destination, his transfer won’t be finalised until the Serie A giants successfully part ways with their own wantaway forward, Mauro Icardi.
