Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted at a potential positional change for Diogo Dalot.

Manchester United have completed two signings this summer, viz. Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and the young duo has performed very impressively on the pre-season tour so far.

In fact, Wan-Bissaka’s displays at right-back have left the Red Devils’ supporters stunned, with some claiming that he is the best player to occupy that position for the club since Gary Neville.

However, the 21-year-old Englishman’s arrival has cast a huge shadow of doubt on the future of Diogo Dalot.

Dalot was brought to Old Trafford by former boss Jose Mourinho last summer, and the Portuguese tactician had claimed that the 20-year-old would become Manchester United‘s first-choice right-back for the next decade.

But since Wan-Bissaka has looked the likelier candidate to nail down that spot of late, Dalot seemed destined for a role on the bench. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s latest comments suggest otherwise.

The Norwegian gaffer has hinted at a potential positional change for Dalot, who could be shifted further up the pitch to form a deadly right-flank partnership with Wan-Bissaka.

“We’re trying to build a squad that can have a long life,” Solskjaer stated in his recent press conference (via Metro). “And with Diogo and Aaron we have got two right-backs that will be very good players.

“Diogo can play right wing and has probably gone from right-back to being able to play right wing. And Aaron has been right wing that can play right-back.

“They can give us good options on the right and Ashley can play both sides, he’s played in the World Cup last summer for England at left-back and he can push Luke and Aaron and Diogo, no bother.”
