Paul Pogba was at the heart of much-heated speculation over the summer. Unlike other instances of players being linked to outfits, it was the Frenchman’s own comments that had ensured the outbreak of rumors of a transfer to Real Madrid.

The World-Cup winner had indicated that he was eager for a new challenge away from Manchester United and his agent Mino Raiola was working hard behind the scenes to facilitate a move.

To add to that, Zinedine Zidane’s intent to land him at the Bernabeu was no secret either.

However, United held their stance of a high asking price strong and as both the English and European deadline days passed, Pogba remained a Red Devil.

However, he didn’t leave things settled on a clean note.

Pogba’s Instagram activity has riled up supporters of the Old Trafford outfit as the Frenchman was seen liking a comment asking him to come to Real Madrid hours prior to the transfer window’s culmination.

Although it was clear that Madrid weren’t willing to splurge the requisite funds for Pogba and that United wouldn’t lower their price on account of not having secured an apt replacement, the fear amongst fans was quite strong.

Many took to social media to critique and poke fun of Pogba’s activity.

Of course, past precedent has clearly indicated that a player managed by Mino Raiola cannot be kept at one side for too long. It should come as no surprise if Pogba to Real Madrid is a massive topic in the upcoming windows as well.

Furthermore, United’s present poor form may have also had a role to play in Pogba’s action.

Interestingly, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer no longer lines up his team around Pogba, as he initially did and as was expected of him.

Is this in preparation for the inevitable?
