The return of Anthony Martial has rejuvenated Man United’s creative efforts up-front. Since his penalty winner against Partizan, United have gone on to score three goals against Norwich City in the Premier League and a further two against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

This has also done wonders to the form of Marcus Rashford, who was facing a form and goal drought as a lone striker otherwise.

Despite that, United are still shy on quality strikers. While Mason Greenwood carries heaps of potential, he cannot be expected to translate that instantly into goals.

As of such, the club is still touted to sign reinforcements in the upcoming window.

According to Mundo Deportivo, United are now looking to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. The Argentinian international has been enjoying a great spell of form this season after a relatively muted debut campaign with the Serie A club.

The report adds that the Red Devils will have to fend off an already existing interest from none other than Barcelona who hold Martinez to be amongst the prime options to replace Luis Suarez.

However, Milan are playing hard-ball with the player’s pricetag with it being claimed that interested clubs will have to pay his £96m release clause in full. This is a hefty price to pay and one that the leadership at Old Trafford may be wary of shelling out.

Further still, the Catalan giants are bound to be tough competitors to ward off for United, particularly since they lack Champions League football at the moment and aren’t exactly having the finest of seasons.

There are schools of opinion who think that signing an experienced striker for a relatively cheaper price is the way to go for United, at least until the existing options of Martial, Rashford, and Greenwood can function with a regular swagger.
