Greenwood Compared To Van Persie After What He Did vs Partizan
Manchester United secured progression to the knockout stages of the Europa League as they secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Partizan at Old Trafford.
Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford all found themselves on the scoresheet in an important win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
This lineup was extremely convincing in its showing as the side dominated the attack attempted several chances.
After the game, it was Mason Greenwood’s goal that most won the hearts of the United supporters.
The comparison was evident, with multiple fans taking to Twitter to claim that Greenwood was the next Robin Van Persie. There’s simply no denying that the style of his opener was quite similar to that of the Dutch striker, who scored several picturesque goals during his time at Old Trafford.
Mason Greenwood has the same finishing technique as Robin van Persie. It's pretty ridiculous to watch, it's like watching a clone of Van Persie at times.

The head down, arched over position that Mason Greenwood adopts inside the penalty area, is very RVP. #MUFC pic.twitter.com/7ve9bs88fM

People laugh when I say Mason Greenwood’s reminds me of Robin van Persie…
Watch his goals against Astana, Rochdale and now Partizan.
He’s an absolute star in the making.

This effort was his third one so far this season. Fans are earnestly hoping that he will emerge as a more regular forward in the seasons to come.

Incidentally, Solskjaer deployed him in a wider role than the one he fulfills in the academy. It will be interesting to see if this will be his regular position going forward.
There has been heavy criticism on the Norwegian for not trusting the teenager more often with more regular football, as opposed to few minutes as the third substitution to kill the game.
Needless to say, performances like this and being the standout man of the match for the full 90 minutes is an apt way from the academy graduate to prove his point.
