Manchester United were able to notch an impressive 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur with Marcus Rashford netting both the goals, the winner via a penalty, while Spurs had Dele Alli’s first-half effort to show for an erstwhile lackluster display.

The win was also crucial for the club with regard to their form as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be all too familiar with. The Norwegian’s spot has looked to be shaky for a while now and the man managing Spurs on the night made things all the more intense.

However, for the most part, this won’t be a return that Jose Mourinho will be content with as his team gave him plenty of reasons to be frustrated.

On the other hand, the classy nature of the Special One remains and this can be best illustrated by what he did at the full-time whistle.

Jose Mourinho was seen congratulating the Manchester United players on the pitch after the game. This gesture was received well by fans and goes on to illustrate the gaffer’s class as well.

In all fairness, the return to Old Trafford could not have been a neutral one for the Portuguese boss whose termination last year and the period bereft of a job has to have left a lot of scope for introspection.

However, this small act goes on to illustrate just why he is immensely successful as a gaffer. Simply put, Mourinho has a strand of personality that not all managers can claim to possess.

The result of the game clearly shows that there is a lot more work to be done at Spurs and Mourinho may just be the ideal man to execute that task with ease.

How will the reverse fixture look like when these two sides meet again on March 14, 2020, at White Hart Lane?
