Man Utd fans are left frustrated over Angel Gomes constantly being handed snubs over his playing time.
The youngster is struggling to find minutes for the first team this season. Not because of any lack of talent or promise, but due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s overdependence on older players. Players such as Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard have constantly been making the starting XI over Gomes.
The attacking midfielder has registered three goals in as many Premier League 2 appearances this season, making his absence from the first team and lack of opportunities even more baffling.
Andreas Pereira has also been a constant failure in the No. 10 role and yet trumps over his fellow academy graduate.
However, the Norwegian boss seems to be convinced his senior players can make a difference, even in games of relatively low importance.
This has pushed the Old Trafford crowd to be in a more questioning mood, especially after reaffirming his stance on team selection last night against Colchester.
Here’s how fans reacted to the teenager’s absence last night:
I said it the day Juan Mata signed a new contract that it was a bad idea and would stop the progress of Angel Gomes and got slated for it. Today, Angel Gomes has removed everything United related from his Instagram and Twitter bio. We’re going to lose a top player. https://t.co/OFU1zqH1fx

Nice to Mata getting game time again as he approaches retirement and Gomes nowhere to be seen.

The Englishman was also left out of the squad by the gaffer for their clash against Alkmaar in the Europa League. After which, the midfielder removed anything associating him with the club from his social media profiles a few days ago.
The Red Devils seemed to have been desperate to escape the image of a club being held back by aging players. But they are not helping themselves from making any changes to that narrative.
