No Goalkeeper Has Made More Errors Leading To Goals Than De Gea Since Last Season

David de Gea has been the one player Manchester United have always been able to rely on due to his consistency.

The Spaniard remained as one of the best players at the club since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. De Gea constantly came to United’s rescue as they treaded through one of their worst periods in their history.

However, even that trend seems to be on the way to change as new trends take its place. The Red Devils have gone from the most dominating English side in history to constantly finding themselves chasing humbler sides.

Strangely enough, they’ve not struggled as much against the top-six with recent wins against Man City and Tottenham, whilst also drawing against Arsenal and Liverpool earlier this season. The Mancunians have also managed to qualify for the Europa League last 32 with relative ease.

Despite this, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have failed to find a consistent rhythm as they constantly seem to come short against smaller English sides. And it maybe be due to their best players underperforming. Paul Pogba has constantly been accused of the crime.

However, the actual culprit may be the Spanish goalkeeper who hasn’t looked like himself since the beginning of last season. The United No. 1, as unstoppable as he is supposed to be, has accumulated the most errors leading to goals in the Premier League (via Opta).

The record champions dropped all three points against Watford during their last Premier League outing. Ismalia Sarr’s strike was dropped into the net by the agile keeper, as he conceded the first goal which was followed up by Troy Deeney’s penalty striker.
